• At the union of the right ascending lumbar and subcostal veins.

3.4.2. List the tributaries of the azygos vein.

• Superior intercostal vein (spaces 2-4)
• Right posterior intercostal veins (spaces 5-11)
• Hemiazygos and accessory hemiazygos veins (T8)
• Bronchial veins, oesophageal veins
• Communications: portal venous system (left gastric veins), internal vertebral venous plexus (radicular/posterior ICV's), renal communication at origin

• Superior vena cava
